Man killed in shootout in Makhachkala

In the centre of the capital of Dagestan, Shamil Magomedov, who opened fire on policemen, was killed in the course of the shootout. This was reported by a source from the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan.

According to the source, tonight, policemen tried to stop an armed man. However, when they tried to check his ID, he opened fire.

"The attacker was killed by return fire. He has been identified as Shamil Rashidovich Magomedov, a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF). Earlier, he used to be an active accomplice of the Makhachkala criminal grouping. Some time ago, Magomedov was detained by law enforcers for aiding and abetting the IAF; however, the court found insufficient the evidence against him and acquitted him," the RIA "Dagestan" quotes an official from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) as stating.
