Early voting in Dagestan arouses no voters' interest
Residents of the republic are not active in early voting, said a source from the Republic's Election Commission (REC). According to his data, in the Babayurt District, only 27 voters have applied for early voting for deputies of the district assembly. Also, the elections were held on the remote island of Chechen.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the republic's law adopted in April Makhachkala received the status of a city with an intra-city split into city districts. Deputies to these district assemblies will be elected on September 13.
As explained by Samir Abdulkhalikov, a member of the REC, the early voting for the above deputies is from 6 to 12 September.
According to his story, applications for early voting have been recorded in the Babayurt District, where 27 persons asked the election commission about it. Also, the early voting took place in the Isle of Chechen situated in the Caspian Sea and being administratively a part of the Kirov District of Makhachkala. There, the voter turnout was 79 persons.
According to the all-Russian census of 2010, the above island has 214 residents, the website of the "Dagestanstat" reports.
