Security measures strengthened in Grozny after killing in battalion "Sever"
The number of on duty servicemen in Grozny has been increased after the murder of Musa Ayubov, an officer of the battalion "Sever" (North), and his wife Zulay; they stop drivers and inspect their cars, townspeople report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ayubov spouses were found assassinated on August 27. Idris Ayubov, Musa's nephew, was detained as a suspect. According to investigators, he committed the murders from a traumatic pistol, retooled for firing live ammunition; and after the murder he stole his uncle's service pistol. During the detention, Idris was under the influence of narcotic drugs, said a law enforcement source.
After the murder of the Ayubovs, the whole unit was alerted, said one of the servicemen of the battalion "Sever".
A source from the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has noted that both casualties "were finished off with control shots in their heads."
However, a source from the republic's MIA has assured that the increased security measures have nothing to do with the murder of the Ayubovs; it is just a continuation of the campaign against violators of traffic rules.
Earlier, local residents expressed doubts that the sharp increase in security measures in Grozny had to do with violators of traffic rules. According to their version, additional posts of special fighters appeared in the city after rumours began circulating about accumulation of militants on the Chechen border.
