Armenian activists demand to punish Nikogosyan for "imperial" statements

Director of the Institute of Strategic Development of Russia Andranik Nikogosyan should be held criminally liable for his statement that Armenia should join the "imperial" Russia, believe activists of the Armenian "Union of Young Fatherland Defenders".

Armenia should become a part of Russia, Andranik Nikogosyan, the Director of the Institute of Strategic Development of Russia and the Chairman of the CIS Youth Union, said in his interview published on August 8 on the portal "gazeta.am".

"Russia needs to form an empire, because federation is not enough for Russia; and the former Soviet republics must unite with Russia," said Andranik Nikogosyan.

In its turn, the public organization "Union of Young Fatherland Defenders" demanded to bring Andranik Nikogosyan to justice under Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Armenia: "Public appeals to violent change of the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia".

"The statement by Andranik Nikogosyan entirely and completely falls under this article," says the statement of the "Union of Young Fatherland Defenders".
