Zakan-Yurt residents state normalization of situation after incident with power agents
Both locals and MIA officials state normalization of situation in the Chechen village of Zakan-Yurt, where on May 30 young people blocked the local police station. According to the MIA, no complaints about policemen's actions were received.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the village of Zakan-Yurt, Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, a conflict broke out between local young people and power agents, after on May 28, according to locals, the latter beat up three girls wearing hijabs in front of the local school.
Girls' peers tried to protect them from beating; a scuffle burst out; and its participants were detained. On May 30, dozens of young men in cars blocked the local police station, demanding to give out the participants of the incident, the locals recollect.
Now, the situation in the village is "absolutely calm," the local administration asserts.
"Maybe policemen were wrong in something; maybe young guys were wrong when starting the 'showdown'. Explanatory talks were held with all the violators of public order," a source from the administration of the Achkhoi-Martan District told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
