Mass searches and detentions of pagan Slavs in Stavropol Territory

Over the past 24 hours, the Stavropol Territory saw at least 19 searches in the houses of local residents, who stick to the Slavonic pagan worship, as reported by activists of the "Stavropol Veche of Russia".

According to the head of the organization, OMON (riot police) and SWAT agents are conducting searches in different cities of the Territory and confiscate literature.

"Now, we can talk about 19 searches in the households of the persons, who have applied to us for help. There are also two local residents, whom we can't contact," Dmitry Chernov, the head of the "Stavropol Veche of Russia", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, those whose houses were searched stated that policemen behaved correctly. "People have no claims to them. They have also noticed that search witnesses were activists of the Russian Orthodox Church. Now, some of the believers were detained and taken to the prosecutor's office for questioning," said Dmitry Chernov, adding that five detainees were released under recognizance not to leave.

Dmitry Chernov has stated that the "Stavropol Veche of Russia" treats law enforcers' actions as unconstitutional and demands to stop them.
