Two Dagestani women arrested on suspicion of selling baby

The chief nurse of the Republic's Children Hospital of Dagestan and her acquaintance are figurants in the criminal case about a sale of a newborn for 450,000 roubles. Both suspects are under house arrest.

According to investigators, the baby was sold to a 30-year-old resident of the Tarumov District of Dagestan in February this year.

"The crime became known to law enforcers after the woman-buyer turned to the local self-government body asking for documents on the baby," says the August 5 statement posted on the website of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), without specifying who the mother of the baby is, and why it became possible to transfer the newborn to a third party.

A criminal case has been opened against the hospital nurse and her acquaintance by the investigating bodies of the ICRF in Dagestan.
