Marat Balkarov from Dugulubgey states that he was forced to self-incrimination

Marat Balkarov, a resident of the village of Dugulubgey of Kabardino-Balkaria, charged with illegal possession of ammunition, has lodged his complaints to the Prosecutor's Office and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" stating about ill-treatment and his refusal from his earlier evidence given to power agents.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Marat Balkarov was detained on July 28. According to power agents, during a search, live ammunition was found on him.

Marat Balkarov wrote his applications addressed to Oleg Zharikov, the Public Prosecutor of the republic, and to the HRC "Memorial" on August 1, the lawyer Elena Bairamkulova, who is representing Balkarov's interests, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that her client had already been charged.

According to Marat Balkarov, power agents in masks threatened him, forced him to incriminate himself and to confess of the crimes he never committed. He added that they also forced him to reject the services of the lawyer Bairamkulova.

Marat Balkarov writes that had never kept any ammunition at home; and the cartridges were planted there in the eyes of his mother.
