Law enforcers suspect militants killed in Nalchik of attack on MIA colonel

The militants killed today in a special operation in Nalchik were members of the "central sector" and involved in a number of crimes, including the assault on July 31 on Police Colonel Takhir Guziev, law enforcers report. A woman is among the casualties.

An armed attack on the 45-year-old chief of staff of the Cherek ROVD (District Interior Division) Takhir Guziev was committed in his house in Nalchik at night on July 31. The police officer died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

"According to the operative data of the FSB, earlier this year, the liquidated bandits went underground and became members of the so-called 'central sector' of militants acting in the territory of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) and committed a number of terrorist crimes, including the above murder of police colonel on July 31," says the statement of the operative headquarters.

During the special operation about 300 local residents were evacuated from the area adjacent to the building in question. There are no casualties and victims among civilians and law enforcers.
