Witness in Amirov's case admits involvement of militants in killing Gadjibekov

Gadjimurad Bekishev, a law enforcer, who was questioned at the trial of Said Amirov, said that militants may be involved in the murder of the investigator Arsen Gadjibekov, of which figurants in Amirov's case are accused.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since May 12 the main case against Said Amirov is considered by the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don. Apart from Amirov, the former Mayor of Makhachkala, the prisoner's dock contains his nephew Yusup Djaparov, Murad Aliev, Akhmedov brothers, Magomed Kadiev and Zubair Mutaev. They are charged, in particular, with the murder of Arsen Gadjibekov, the head of the investigating division for the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala, who was shot dead on December 14, 2011, in Kaspiysk.

The witness Gadjimurad Bekishev was questioned by means of a video link from the Makhachkala Garrison Military Court and told the court that he is a distant relative to Arsen Gadjibekov and lived close to him.

Bekishev does not know who exactly killed Gadjibekov, but admits that "members of terrorist groupings" might be involved in the crime.

Gadjimurad Bekishev also told the court that he personally received "memory flash-sticks from militants with threats."

After questioning the witnesses, the defence presented the testimony of the defendant Zubair Mutaev, who said that he was beaten up after detention. The defendant expressed confidence that torture was applied to all the figurants in the case.
