Some militants in Syria swear allegiance to leader of "Imarat Kavkaz"
Militants of Northern Caucasus fighting in Syria and led by Salakhuddin Shishani have sworn allegiance to Mukhammad Suleimanov (Abu Usman of Gimry), the new leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz" recognized in Russia and the US as a terrorist organization.
In late May, the "Caucasian Knot" reported with reference to its sources that Mukhammad Suleimanov (Abu Usman of Gimry), a Sharia judge of militants and the leader of the armed underground in Dagestan, became the new leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz". On July 5, the information was confirmed by one of the websites supporting militants of Northern Caucasus.
On July 8, one of the "Twitter" channels supporting militants posted the information about the Salakhuddin Shishani's swear.
Salakhuddin Shishani heads a grouping of militants, who had earlier fought in Syria as members of the "Jaish al-muhajirin wal-Ansar" grouping consisting mainly of natives of Northern Caucasus.
It should be noted that in late 2014, a number of commanders of groupings operating in the territory of Dagestan, including Dagestani Amir Abu-Mukhammad swore allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the "Islamic State". On June 21, it was reported that all the militants of Northern Caucasus had given such an oath.
