Initiative group "No to robbery!" decides to stop sit-in strike in Yerevan
Today, in Yerevan, the initiative group "No to robbery!" has decided to stop the sit-in strike. So far, no reasons have been announced.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 19 Armenia began mass protests against the decision to raise the electricity tariff. The largest action takes place around the clock in Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan.
Today, the "No to robbery!" is not striking, said Maxim Sarkisyan, one of the members of the group, adding that the reasons for the decision will be announced on June 30 and that he did not exclude changes in the composition of the coordination group "No to robbery!"
Let us remind you that on June 27 Armenian authorities made advances to the protesters. President Serzh Sargsyan announced the intention to conduct an audit of the company "Electric Grids of Armenia"; and until the outcomes of the audit, the government decided to carry on the burden of the increased tariff. But the protesters said that actions would continue until the decision to increase the tariff was cancelled.
Supporters of the initiative group "No to robbery!" have obeyed the police and left Bagramyan Avenue; other protesters remain there.
