Avetisyan family murder case delivered to Armenia
The trial of the Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, accused of massacring the Avetisyan family, will be held under the jurisdiction of the Armenian party. The decision to transfer the case was announced during the meeting of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with the Russian delegation headed by Maxim Sokolov, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation and a co-chair of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, in Gyumri, an attack on the Avetisyan family was undertaken – six family members were killed on the spot; and on January 19, the only survival in the attack – Sergey Avetisyan, a 6-month-old baby, died from received wounds in hospital. A conscript-soldier from Russia Valery Permyakov is accused of committing the mass murder.
The press service of the Armenian President has confirmed the information about the transfer the Permyakov's murder case to the Armenian party and noted that Serzh Sargsyan thanked Russian law enforcement bodies "for their efficient cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia."
"The transfer of the murder case to the Investigating Committee of Armenia complies with the provisions of the agreement on the issues of jurisdiction and mutual legal aid in cases involving the presence of the Russian military base in the territory of the Republic of Armenia," said Serzh Sargsyan.
