MCC dismisses appeal against extension of Zaur Dadaev's arrest
The Moscow City Court (MCC) has upheld the decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to extend the detention in custody for Zaur Dadaev, the main defendant in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, until August 28.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the defence of Zaur Dadaev has appealed against the decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow on the extension of the period of his arrest, which was pronounced on April 23. Today, in the course of the consideration of the appeal, the Moscow City Court has refused to send the case against Zaur Dadaev to the military court, as his advocate requested. Besides, Shamsudin Tsakaev, the advocate of the defendant, has also claimed that his client is being illegally kept in custody.
According to prosecutor Vadim Kalugin, the decision pronounced by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow is legitimate. The judge of the Moscow City Court has recognized the position of investigators and public prosecutors as reasonable and dismissed the appeal filed by the Zaur Dadaev's defence.
Zaur Dadaev, who is treated by the investigators as the direct perpetrator of the Boris Nemtsov's murder committed in Moscow on February 27, was detained on March 5. Apart from Zaur Dadaev, the prisoners' dock also contains four other natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia, including Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, and Shagid Gubashev, who are being kept in custody on charges of involvement in the crime.
