Resident of Dagestan claims investigators fail to react to his complaint about beating by law enforcers
The defence of Arslan Khairullin has filed a complaint to the court about the investigators' inaction concerning the complaint filed about beating committed by law enforcers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Arslan Khairullin, a 19-year-old resident of Dagestan, filed to the Prosecutor's Office a complaint of his beating by law enforcers and unlawful prosecution.
According to Arslan Khairullin, on February 10, he was stopped by law enforcers at the intersection of Gagarin and Kirov Streets in Makhachkala. Later, he was forcibly brought to an unknown apartment, where he was beaten. There, according to Arslan Khairullin, he was forced to sign a confession to drug possession.
Arslan Khairullin has not been informed about the results of the verification of the reasons for his complaint. Therefore, on June 10, he filed a complaint to the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala about the investigators' inaction. Besides, his complaint also includes a request to oblige the responsible official and his bosses to eliminate the violation. This was reported by Elena Denisenko, an advocate of the resident of Dagestan.
The advocate has clarified that the criminal proceedings in the case against Arslan Khairullin himself, suspected of illegal possession of drugs, have been suspended.
