Discharge of manganese into Terek happened during debugging gas equipment

The Prosecutor's Office of North Ossetia has taken explanations from the head of the "Kit-Service Plus" Company, which has allegedly contaminated the Terek River with manganese.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 20 residents of Vladikavkaz reported that water in the Terek River became reddish after some lilac liquid got there. The local Prosecutor's Office revealed that the source of pollution was the CO2 workshop located in the abandoned part of the Ossetian Factory of Automobile and Tractor Electrical Equipment (known as OZATE). The water samples showed the manganese concentration exceeding the exposure limit by 462 times.

The above shop in the OZATE territory belongs to the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Kit-Service Plus", Yulia Khludeeva, the Public Prosecutor of the Zaterechny District, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In her written explanation, the boss of the LLC "Kit-Service Plus" wrote that her company had intended to start producing CO2; and the above leakage of manganese occurred in the course of commissioning the equipment, said Yulia Khludeeva.

The Prosecutor's Office has raised, based on preliminary results of inspections, the issue of violating the protection rules of marine biological resources.
