TI claims violations at elections of heads of local self-government in Armenia

Observers of the anti-corruption centre "Transparency International" (TI) have reported on violations committed during the voting at the elections of the heads of administrations and members of the Council of Elders of Armenia.

Let us remind you that on June 7, residents of 32 communities of Armenia were electing heads of administrations and members of the Council of Elders. Activists of the TI sent their observers to all 32 communities and published the findings on the TI's page at social network Facebook. As a result, they have reported at least eight violations.

According to the preliminary information, violations recorded by the observers and the media were of occasional nature. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the Armenian Central Election Commission (CEC). Officials of the Armenian CEC have added that a more objective assessment will be possible after the results of the elections are summarized.

"All the claims of violations filed to the CEC will be subjected to investigation," the Armenian CEC has noted.
