Redistribution of Said Amirov's resources underway in Makhachkala
The redistribution process of assets and spheres of influence of the ex-mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov began immediately after his arrest and is still on, the Dagestani experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted.
According to their stories, some of the above resources, including the construction industry, marketplaces and public transport in Makhachkala, have passed over to new or former owners, but some of them are still under Amirov's family. The authorities managed to avoid overt conflict and destabilization in the society.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Amirov was detained in Makhachkala on suspicion of organizing the murder of investigator Gadjibekov on June 1, 2013. On July 9, 2014, the North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced Said Amirov to 10 years in a high-security colony on charges of preparing a terror act.
According to Andrei Melamedov, an economic observer of the Dagestani weekly "Novoe Delo", the redistribution of Amirov's businesses after his arrest goes very actively. At the same time, he has added, some of the property taken over by Said Amirov went back to the former owners; on the other hand, owners from the new elite appear.
A source from one of the Dagestani mass media said that the public transport of Makhachkala went from Amirov's people to natives of the village of Mekegi, which is the native village of the new Mayor of Makhachkala Magomed Suleimanov. According to his story, Amirov's people have preserved considerable real estates, land plots and some marketplaces; however, the republic's authorities are constantly threatening to take them away.
