Grozny residents complain of traffic jams caused by rehearsal of Victory Parade (+video)

Grozny residents note a significant accumulation of military equipment and power agents in the centre of the Chechen capital, which caused blocking of streets in the morning on May 7.

Militaries have blocked almost the entire central Grozny, said Raisa Yu., a local resident.

According to Islam M., another Grozny resident, whenever several central streets are blocked for some events, immediately huge traffic jams appear as consequence.

A source from the Grozny administration said that the city centre was temporarily closed because of a rehearsal of the military parade.

Locals recall that in 2014 and 2013 Grozny residents are not admitted to the military parade.

"We have military parades here for the republic's leadership, Ramzan's retinue and some of the officials. Last year, during the parade on the Victory Day, people were not let farther than the Fashion House; and Kadyrov Square and surrounding streets were completely blocked," said Suleiman M. a resident of Chechnya, adding that during parades people were not even allowed to go out of their house yards in city centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2014 in Grozny in connection with the celebrations on Victory Day and the Day of Memory and Grief for Republic's Nations, security measures were strengthened. In particular, on May 9 and 10, 2014, the central part of Grozny was blocked for motor traffic.
