In Makhachkala, the police launched the investigating into the case of beating of Gadjimurad Omarov, the leader of the Dagestani regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjimurad Omarov was beaten on February 21 after the conference held by the Dagestani branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party. According to Gadjimurad Omarov, an official from the local government is involved in the beating. Gadjimurad Omarov went to Moscow for medical treatment, where doctors diagnosed a fractured collarbone and brain concussion. On March 20, his advocate filed a complaint to the court about the inaction of staff members of the Investigating Department.

Timur Magomedov, a senior investigator of the ROVD (Interior Division) for the Lenin District of Makhachkala, has issued a resolution to institute a criminal case on the fact of beating of Gadjimurad Omarov. This was told on April 17 to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ruslan Rasulov, the Chief of Dagestani regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party.

"The basis for institution of a criminal case is the availability of sufficient data indicating signs of a crime under Paragraph 'a' of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate infliction of bodily harm of hooligan motives)," states the resolution, a copy of which is available to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"It is obvious for us that it was not an act of hooliganism, but a political order to eliminate a political rival. That is why the institution of a criminal case took such a long period of time and so many efforts," Ruslan Rasulov has stated.
