Volgograd Region: former cop suspected of beating a teen
A criminal investigation has been launched in the Volgograd Region against a former operative agent of the Criminal Search Division, suspected of abuse of power with using violence.
According to investigators, in late February, a 17-year-old resident of the Volgograd Region was detained on suspicion of stealing a piggy bank from a private household. During a talk, the above agent from the Svetloyarsk ROVD (District Interior Division) offered the detainee to confess, "on his good will", of committing the theft, says the press service of the Investigating Department (ID) for the Volgograd Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
"Having received a refusal, the agent decided to 'knock the confession out' of the teen'; he kicked him twice in the groin and slapped over his face with his palm," says the statement posted on April 14 on the website of the above ID.
The agent has been sacked from the interior body on defamatory grounds. A criminal case was opened against him under Point "a", Part 3, Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (abuse of office, committed with violence), which assumes from 3 to 10 years in prison.
According to the press service of the above ID, the agent rejects his guilt.
