Supporters of Mikhail Abramyan treat his arrest as provocation

Colleagues of Mikhail Abramyan, an activist of the "Communists of Russia" Party, detained in Stavropol and arrested for seven days, have called his detention a provocation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 11, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Stavropol found Mikhail Abramyan guilty under Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (disorderly conduct) and sentenced him to a seven-day arrest.

"In the morning of April 11, Mikhail Abramyan went to the party office to meet citizens. The party office is located not far from his hotel. Suddenly, he was attacked by a man... who began to push and provoke him. Mikhail has immediately called me and told me that it looked like the police organized a kind of provocation," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Dmitry Pechinsky, a party colleague of Mikhail Abramyan.

The activist's colleague has added that policemen were already waiting for Mikhail Abramyan near the party office. They arrested him and brought him to the Court.

"We will try to prove that a provocation was organized against our party colleague. It looks very strange that the man, who was going to meet citizens, suddenly began to attack someone, push him and use foul language without any reasons and motives," Dmitry Pechinsky has expressed his opinion regarding the incident.
