Attackers on activists in Gyumri brought to administrative responsibility

Five persons involved in the attack on activists of the "Founding Parliament" in Gyumri have been brought to administrative responsibility.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 28, participants of a rally were attacked in Gyumri. The rally was organized by the "Pre-Parliament" ("Founding Parliament") under the slogan of "100th anniversary of the genocide without regime". During the rally, activist Grachya Mirzoyan was wounded. On April 1, Rudik Khachatryan, suspect of stabbing Grachya Mirzoyan, came to the police to make a confession. Criminal proceedings were instituted against Roudik Khachatryan.

According to an official from the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), five persons, who threw eggs at the rally organizers, brought to the administrative responsibility under Article "Violation of the order of holding rallies, demonstrations, and actions."

"Offenders face a fine of 50,000-100,000 drams (about 205-210 US dollars)," the MIA's official has said.

On January 31, supporters of the "Pre-Parliament" involved in a campaigning motor rally were beaten in Nagorno-Karabakh. At least six persons were injured. According to them, policemen were involved in beating of the oppositionists. After the incident, the authorities report the dismissal of 10 policemen.
