Defendants in case of Boris Nemtsov's murder plead not guilty at MCC

While the Moscow City Court (MCC) was considering the appeals filed by advocates of five defendants in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, the very defendants and their advocates made statements of non-involvement in the crime.

Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed in Moscow on February 27. Five persons, including Zaur Dadaev, Anzor and Shagid Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder. They would not plead guilty.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow is to re-announce the pre-trial restriction measure against three defendants suspected of the murder of Boris Nemtsov. This was reported by officials of the Court.

"The consideration of the motions filed by investigators against three defendants is scheduled for April 6," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told today by an official of the Basmanny District Court.

The MCC has announced positive decisions on the appeals filed by the advocates of three defendants and instructed the Basmanny District Court to choose the pre-trial restriction measure in compliance with procedural rules. This was reported on April 1 by Ulyana Solopova, the head of the press service of the MCC.

"The Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recommends considering individually each appeal filed by the investigating authorities concerning pre-trial restriction measure against defendants and suspects. In this case, on March 8, the Basmanny District Court issued a single resolution on the arrest of three suspects; and today, the MCC has made the decision to eliminate the procedural violation," Ulyana Solopova has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Court's officer has also noted that the Basmanny District Court is to consider individually the motions concerning the pre-trial restriction measure against each of the defendants.
