Red Zone Festival, dedicated to Armenian Genocide, takes place in Norway

The topic of the Red Zone Festival, held in Oslo on March 3-8, is the genocide against Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.

On April 24, 1915, the Turkish authorities arrested and executed many Armenian intellectuals from Western Armenia, then a part of the Ottoman Empire. In total, in 1915, they killed more than 1.5 million Armenians. The Armenian Genocide has been recognized by parliaments of many countries.

On March 3, as part of the festival, Oslo hosted a concert "100 years of oblivion", in which musicians from Armenia, Norway, Turkey and Iran took part.

The Red Zone Festival was organized by the Church Intercultural Centre (Kirkelig Kulturverksted) with the assistance of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the "Armenia Today" reports with reference to the Armenian MFA.

Let us note here that annually on April 24, residents of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, and members of Armenian Diasporas all over the world mark the Day of Remembrance of the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
