In Volgograd, unidentified persons blow up ATM with grenade
Tonight, in Volgograd, unidentified persons used a grenade to blow up an automatic teller machine (ATM) in a bank building. No one was injured, and criminal failed to steal money. This is the second incident of such type during recent 10 days.
The explosion occurred at about 4:00 a.m. Moscow time in the premises of one of the offices of "Sberbank" (Savings Bank) located in Rokossovsky Street in the Central District of Volgograd. In the office, the hall room is open twenty-four-hours a day to ensure access to the ATMs.
"We presume that criminals activated a grenade. No one was injured, and the criminals failed to steal money," said Colonel Svetlana Smolyaninova, an official from the Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), as quoted by the "TASS".
According to the preliminary information, the criminals used an RGD-5 grenade, the "LifeNews" reports.
The organizers of the explosion managed to escape. A criminal case was instituted under two Articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: "Attempted theft" and "Illicit trafficking of ammunition."
In Volgograd, this is the second incident of such type during recent 10 days. The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of February 24, at about 4:00 a.m. Moscow time, unidentified persons blew up an ATM in a bank building located in University Avenue in the Soviet District of Volgograd. Like in this case, on that day, they also failed to steal money, but managed to escape.
