Surgery appointed to Sochi resident Pyotr Parpulov, accused of treason

Members of the Krasnodar Territorial Public Oversight Commission (POC) under the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation have visited a Sochi resident Pyotr Parpulov at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where he is kept under suspicion of high treason. As a result, they managed to solve the problem of a surgery that Parpulov needs. During the visit, they also revealed violations of custody conditions at the SIZO.

Members of the POC revealed violations of the limit of inmates who can be kept at SIZO No. 5.

"People have to sleep even in folding-beds, which is contrary to the rules for keeping detainees in custody," Eduard Idrisov, the head of the Krasnodar POC, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that they had drawn "an act on the results of the inspection to be handed over to the prosecutor's office."

As a result of the visit, the issue of the scheduled surgery of Parpulov was settled.

Idrisov said, referring to his colleagues, that Pyotr Parpulov, looked rather depressed. "He was asked about his complaints, but it was clear that he was not free in his statements and feared something, especially because a convoy was all the time near him," said Eduard Idrisov.
