Semender residents claim mass detentions in their settlement
There are mass detentions in the settlement of Semender, in the Kirov District of Makhachkala, said an activist of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), citing local residents.
"There are minors among the detainees, including a15-year-old girl, who just came to visit her mother. I can't say exactly, how many people were detained, but locals say that quite many," said the source.
Up to 30 people were detained, a Semender resident told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on condition of anonymity. "Law enforcers said that the settlement was put under the CTO regime; however, there's no special operation as such – they inspect house after house and bring all the observant Muslims into the local banquet hall 'Semender'," he said.
The GOVD of Makhachkala told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they did not know about the ongoing power actions in the settlement; and the Kirov ROVD did not confirm the facts of mass detentions.
