Inquiry into Nemtsov's murder is headed by general, who solved Markelov's murder
The investigator, who earlier was in charge of the inquiry into the 2009 murder of the lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, has been appointed to head the group of investigators to run the inquiry into the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov.
Boris Nemtsov, a Russian politician, born in Sochi, was killed in Moscow on February 27. He was one of the most famous Russian opposition politicians.
"The group is headed by Igor Krasnov," said the lawyer Vadim Prokhorov, who is representing the interests of Anna Duritskaya, who was with Nemtsov at the moment of his murder, the RIA "Novosti" quotes the lawyer. The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) neither confirmed nor denied the information that the case was entrusted to Krasnov.
The appointment of Krasnov is not occasional, as one of the versions assumes involvement of nationalists, said a source close to the inquiry. The murder of the oppositionist is in line with the programme text disseminated by the extremist community named "Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists" (known as BORN).
It should be noted here that the ICRF has appointed an award of three million roubles for any valuable information about the murder of Nemtsov; this was announced by the website of the ICRF on March 1.
