Power agents refuse to disclose information about local resident detained in Kizilyurt District, his relatives assert

Relatives of Djabu Magomedov, a resident of the Kizilyurt District, cannot get official information about his whereabouts since February 26. According to a source in the Kizilyurt GOVD (City Interior Department), Djabu Magomedov is suspected of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), and he is in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Rizvan Aliev, a local resident, that on February 26, between 11:00 and 12:00 a.m., his nephew Djabu Magomedov, born in 1994, was captured by unidentified persons in the village of Nechaevka of the Kizilyurt District.

According Rizvan Aliev, starting from February 26 till March 1, the relatives were not aware of the whereabouts of Djabu Magomedov. "On March 1, our source in the law enforcement agencies reported that my nephew was kept at the Investigating Department in Makhachkala," Rizvan Aliev has said.

He has expressed his concern that Djabu Magomedov was tortured.

"We do not know exactly about the charges against him. We only know that initially, he (Magomedov) was presented a pistol allegedly found with him. Then, the charge was dropped. And, at present, as far as we know, he is being charged with aiding and abetting militants," the detainee's uncle has said.
