NAC confirms killing of six militants in Dagestan
Oleg Shalyapin, the head of the armed grouping, was pre-identified among the six persons killed in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. The special operation continues, said the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25 power agents discovered a dugout in the Kizilyurt District, where militants were hiding. Four villages of the district were put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. According to power agents, as on the morning on February 26, six militants were killed. In his turn, a source from the MIA said on February 26 that nine militants were killed in the CTO, and one special force fighter was lost.
"All those killed were members of the so-called 'Kizilyurt' gang. One of its leaders, Oleg Shalyapin, a native of Makhachkala, born in 1979, who was on the federal wanted list, has been pre-identified. According to the data of the republic's FSB department, he was the organizer and participant of numerous attacks on law enforcers and civilians, explosions of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and was involved in a brutal murder in 2014 of a retired police veteran," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the NAC's statement.
The NAC has also confirmed that during the shootout a fighter of internal troops was lost, and another one was wounded, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
