In Sochi, Court fines Saveliev family for failure to fulfil decision on demolition of their house

The Adler District Court has decided to fine the Saveliev family by 2500 roubles for the failure to fulfil the decision on demolition of unsanctioned buildings in Akatsij Street. The family members continue to live in the cottage, which they occupied illegally on February 23.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Saveliev family was evicted from the barrack, where they lived in Akatsij Street, and the very building was demolished because of the construction of M-27 highway. According to Lyudmila Savelieva, her family, which consists of five persons, including two minors, has not received any compensation or housing.

Advocate Alexander Pokhodyaev, who represents interests of the Saveliev family members, has reported that the resolution on the fine was challenged at the Adler District Court. According to the advocate, the judge has completely ignored the arguments of the defence that "a bailiff imposed the fine on the Saveliev family unlawfully."

At night on February 23, the Saveliev family of five persons, including two minors, moved into one of the empty houses located in the village for Adler internally displaced persons. At the same time, the members of the Saveliev family sent an appeal to the Russian President and the Mayor of Sochi, in which they asked to secure new house for them.

In his turn, Alexei Saveliev has asked the court to ensure that his family will be given "at least a week to transport things." However, the judge has dismissed the motion.
