Beaten advocate not to attend court sessions on terror act in the house of Sheikh of Chirkey

The health status of the lawyer Murad Magomedov, who was beaten up in Makhachkala, does not allow him to continue representing the interests of the defendant Magomedali Amirkhanov at the trial on the terror act committed in the house of Sheikh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi. The court did not rule out the appointment of a state advocate for Amirkhanov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that advocate Murad Magomedov, who works together with the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", was beaten on February 4. He was attacked by several people in front of the Supreme Court of Dagestan in Makhachkala.

According to his friend, Murad Magomedov himself believes the attack on him is connected with his involvement in the case of the explosion that killed religious leader Said Afandi al-Chirkawi and six of his followers. Murad Magomedov represents the interests of defendant Amirkhanov, who refused to plead guilty at the court session right on the day, when his advocate was attacked.

Murad Magomedov himself said that he would not be able to appear at the court session on February 18.

"I still suffer from headaches and dizziness. My memory has not recovered yet. This all should be treated. For me, it is the most important thing," Murad Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by means of the Facebook social network.

The Supreme Court of Dagestan has reported that in the absence of the advocate at the court session, the defendant will be asked to choose another defender.
