Gimry Tunnel will be opened on December 1, said Abdulatipov

It is planned to reopen the Gimry Tunnel for motor traffic on December 1, Ramazan Abdulatipov, the head of Dagestan, said today during a live broadcast.

Let us remind you that today Ramazan Abdulatipov was answering the questions of residents of Dagestan within the project of "Open Authorities". The topic of the live broadcast was formulated as "Dagestan: Integration, Investments and Development".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime that was in force for 8 months in the Untsukul District of Dagestan has been lifted. It was introduced in the Untsukul District on March 8. Within this regime, starting September 18, power agents conducted their actions in the settlement of Vremenny, which territorially belongs to the village of Gimry. Local residents complained about violation of their rights in the course of these actions.

In the course of the live broadcast, Gulya Nurmagomedova, a resident of the republic, asked the leader of Dagestan about reopening of the Gimry Tunnel, which was closed in the context of the counterterrorist operation (CTO), conducted in the Untsukul District. The tunnel links the village of Gimry, Untsukul District, with Buinaksk and Makhachkala.

"The Gimry Tunnel can be opened to traffic on December 1," said Abdulatipov.

At the same time, the republic's leader blamed residents of the Untsukul District, "who shelter terrorists," of the current situation in the district.

According to Abdulatipov, 47, natives of the Untsukul District are currently at war in Syria. The head of Dagestan also urged residents of the district "to drive terrorists out of their villages," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
