Dagestan: relatives of Eradil Asanov killed at ROVD demand to punish those in charge

Eradil Asanov, a resident of the Nogai District of Dagestan, who was shot dead on October 6 at the ROVD (District Interior Division), never attacked policemen, his family members assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 6, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Dagestan, at the police station in the village of Terekli-Mekteb of the Nogai District of Dagestan, a man detained on suspicion of murder attacked a policeman with a knife and was shot dead.

According to Renat Adilgereev, a brother of the killed man, Eradil Asanov was 22 years old, and he worked as a builder and committed no crimes. "They deceived him and invited him to the police station. They said that they had a job for him. Then, they wanted to accuse him of the earlier murder of a young woman," the brother of the killed man has said.

The policemen killed Eradil Asanov when they were trying to force him to confess to the crimes, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source from the ROVD. According to the source, on October 6, two operational policemen from Makhachkala arrived in the ROVD, and one of them was a relative of one of the leaders of the Nogai District.

"The Nogai ROVD has recorded 11 'cold cases', and they came to improve the rate of crime solution by the end of the year. Policemen brought young man Eradil Asanov to the ROVD. They started to threaten him and demanded from him to confess to the crimes. Perhaps, they overplayed and shot and killed him," the source has said.

According to the source, last night, a crowd of angry relatives of Eradil Asanov gathered near the ROVD. They demanded to carry out an objective investigation into the incident and to punish the murderers.
