Sochi: Kapustin family claim violation of their rights by builders of Olympic facilities

In Sochi, construction of the Olympic facilities led the house of the Kapustin family to the state unfit for living. This was stated by the Kapustin family members. However, despite the expertise, which supports the arguments of the family members, the court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Kapustin family. At present, the Kapustin family members prepare an appeal against the court's decision. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Prior to the Olympic Games, Tatiana Kapustina, a wheelchair user, together with her family, consisting of four persons, lived in her own house No. 4 in Vesyolaya Street in the village of Vesyoloe. After the start of construction of the Olympic facilities, their house built in 1959 has appeared to be in complete disrepair. The disabled person and her family, including her husband, her 9-year-old son, and her mother, have to rent an apartment.

According to Tatiana Kapustina, members of her family appeared to become hostages of three major organizations that refused to evacuate them from protective zones occupied by their communications. "Construction of a railway road, a substation and a water tunnel led to disruption of the landscape. The house started to collapse. The backyard and garden were flooded with water," the woman said.

The members of the Kapustin family have filed a lawsuit, in which they requested to withdraw their house and land plot or to pay compensation to them. On October 16, 2013, the Adler District Court refused to protect their property rights and to grant their lawsuit against the organizations that were constructing the Olympic facilities.
