Volgograd parents are concerned about planned closure of educational institutions for visually impaired children

In Volgograd, parents of pupils of primary schools-kindergartens of compensating type for children with visual impairment No. 2 and No. 8 are concerned about the planned closure of the educational institutions. According to the parents, the closure of the above educational institutions will infringe the rights of their children.

Children of Elena Beeva attend the kindergarten and the third form of the school-kindergarten No. 2. "In our city, we have only two such institutions of correctional type for children with visual impairment," the mother of two pupils of the school-kindergarten told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. And she continued: "Visually impaired children of different ages attend such educational institutions. There, they receive not only education and training. They also get there qualified care of ophthalmologists and hardware-based medical treatment assigned depending on diagnosis of a child."

According to Elena Beeva, on April 2, the parents of the primary school pupils were notified about the fact that the primary school would operate in the educational institution till May 31, 2014. After that date, the primary school will be closed.

On May 27, the parents of the children attending two schools-kindergartens filed an appeal to the reception of Andrei Bocharov, Acting Governor of the Volgograd Region, and to Vladimir Efimov, Speaker of the Regional Duma. In their appeal, they have suggested the authorities to consider several options for solving the problem.
