During week of April 14-20, 2014, 13 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of April 14-20, 2014, at least 13 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 9 persons were killed, and 4 persons were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes one law enforcer in Ingushetia, one civilian in Dagestan, and seven suspected members of the armed underground, including five in Dagestan and two in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Attacks on law enforcers

On April 14, in Nalchik, in Musov Street, policemen stopped a young man to check his documents. At that moment, the suspect pulled out a pistol and opened fire on the policemen. The attacker was killed by return fire. No policeman suffered.

On April 18, in the Dubki District on the outskirts of Nalchik, policemen stopped a car to check documents. The driver of the car opened fire with a pistol the law enforcers and tried to flee. The attacker was killed by return fire of the law enforcers. He was identified as Khyzyr Begiev, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On April 15, in the garden community "Palmira" located on the outskirts of Makhachkala, law enforcers blocked a private house with suspected militants. Later, the law enforcers blocked one more private house. In the community of Stepnoy in Makhachkala, a regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced. During the special operation, five members of the terrorist grouping "Makhachkala" were killed. During the armed clash with militants, one law enforcer was wounded, and two other law enforcers got burns.

Bombings and terror acts

On April 17, seven kilometres from the village of Verkhny Alkun of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, during the operational activities to search for members of the underground, a soldier of the internal forcers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) blew up on a mine and deceased.

Attacks on civilians

On April 17, on the highway Khasavyurt-Babayurt, unidentified persons shelled the car of Musa Islavov, a Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan. Musa Islavov died from gunshot wounds, and his driver was hospitalized in serious condition. According to the investigators' priority version, Musa Islavov was assassinated by militants.
