Defendants in Nalchik attack case claim violation of their rights at SIZO

Starting today, four defendants in the case of the attack on Nalchik have announced an indefinite hunger strike in protest against Azamat Akhkubekov's placement into the dungeon, said one of their advocates.

According to the lawyer, the hunger strike was announced by defendants Zalim Dugulubgov, Azret Shavaev, Khasanbi Khupsergenov and Kaplan Midov.

The hunger strike was also supported by Ilyas Gazhonov, convicted under Article 158 (theft) of the Russian Criminal Code, who, according to his advocate, is on hunger strike for six days already.

On April 15, Akhkubekov addressed his complaint about violation of his rights to Magazali Endreev, ex-chairman of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) for Kabardino-Balkaria, stating that he had received threats from the SIZO bosses and he was placed into the dungeon under false denunciations.
