In Bashkiria, four members of "Imarat Kavkaz" sentenced for possessing explosives

Four residents of Bashkiria, who are, according to prosecutors, members of the "Imarat Kavkaz", have been sentenced to three years of imprisonment on charges of illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunitions and explosives. This was reported on March 31 by the local Prosecutor's Office.

The defendants in the case were four residents of the Baimak District of Bashkortostan: 43-year-old Nurmukhamet Bikbirdin, 38-year-old Nurgali Bikberdin, 42-year-old Akhmet Khusainov, and 40-year-old Rishat Vakhitov. According to prosecutors, all of them are members of the "Imarat Kavkaz".

According to investigators, the defendants stored in their houses about 700 grams of explosives, detonators, a homemade revolver, ammunition, and gunpowder. The above mentioned items were seized during the search conducted in September 2011. Prior to the searches, the defendants attempted to elect a member of the terrorist organization to the position of the head of the local mosque. This was reported by the statement posted on the website of the Bashkir Prosecutor's Office.
