On March 24-30, 11 persons killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of March 24-30, 2014, at least 14 persons suffered in the armed conflict in North Caucasus. Of them, 11 persons were killed and 3 wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The death toll includes 10 suspected members of armed underground, and one law enforcer, all of them in Dagestan.
Attacks on law enforcers
On March 23, at 9:40 p.m. Moscow time, in Ametkhan-Sultan Avenue in Makhachkala, unidentified persons fired from firearms crews of the police patrol vehicles. One of the attackers was killed by return fire, and the other attacker managed to escape from the scene. No policeman suffered. The killed man was identified as Basir Osmanov, a member of terrorist grouping.
On March 24, at about 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, in Toturbiev Street in Dagestani Khasavyurt, during the investigative operations, FSB agents and staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stopped a VAZ-2114 car to check document. Passengers of the car opened fire on law enforcers from automatic weapons. Four suspected militants killed in the fire-fight. No policeman suffered. The killed men were identified as Ismail Kazanbiev, Zurap Esenaev, Magomedgadjhi Askhabomarov and Idris Akavov, the leader of the "Babayurt" grouping.
Special operations and CTOs
On March 25, during the special operation conducted in the village of Pervomayskoe of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, law enforcers blocked a house with suspected members of armed underground. During the assault of the house, five suspected militants and one fighter of special forcers were killed, and two other law enforcers were wounded. Three killed members of the armed underground were pre-identified they were Shamil and Akhmed Yakhyaev brothers, residents of the village of Pervomayskoe, and Akhmed Magomedov. Besides, according to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the number of the killed militants included Tural Ataev, the leader of the "Khasavyurt" grouping of militants.
Attacks on civilians
In the evening of March 20, unidentified persons fired Mr Tuchalov, Chief of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels of the Chief Department of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for Dagestan. As a result of shelling, Mr Tuchalov got five wounds. Investigators consider several versions of the attack, including personal dislike, threats posed by members of the illegal armed formations (IAFs). However, the main version is still associated with Mr Tuchalov's official activities. This information was reported on March 24.
Kidnappings
On March 28, at 6:00 a.m., more than a dozen armed men in camouflage and masks broke into the house of Alikhan Kubuzov, a resident of the village of Dolakovo of the Republic of Ingushetia. Without presenting any documents or acts and without presenting their IDs, they searched the whole house and kidnapped Alikhan Kubuzov. The whereabouts of the kidnapped man is not unknown.
