Muftiat of Stavropol Territory is concerned with detention of Pyatigorsk resident who took Islam
After a search, law enforcers detained Egish Dadyan, a 26-year-old member of the Muslim community of Pyatigorsk. His relatives assert that they have no information about him for a week. The Stavropol Muftiat is concerned about the fact.
Egish Dadyan was detained on March 14; and on March 18 his relatives turned to the Muftiat, his detention could have to do with the fact that two years ago he and his family got converted to Islam.
According to their story, Egish Dadyan was detained without explanation and accused by power agents of possessing ammunition, drugs and extremist literature.
"The leaders of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of the Stavropol Territory doubt of the validity of the charges," said a source from the press service of the SAM.
According to his story, Mukhammad Rakhimov, the Mufti of the Stavropol Territory, was outraged with the incident and said that he would raise the issue at the next sitting of the Public Council of the Pyatigorsk UVD (Interior Department).
