Rostov Regional Court upholds arrest of oppositionist Vladislav Ryazantsev
Today, the Rostov Regional Court has upheld the ruling of the Sovietskiy District Court of Rostov-on-Don to arrest Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the movement "Left-Wing Front", for hooliganism for 15 days. Ryazantsev announced his intention to challenge the court ruling.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vladislav Ryazantsev was arrested for 15 days on January 21. He was charged with swearing when walking down the street. Ryazantsev associates his arrest with the Olympic Torch Relay and announced a start of a dry hunger strike. The consideration of his appeal complaint was scheduled for February 3; then postponed till February 4.
"The female judge has rejected all our arguments regarding the illegality of the ruling passed by the Sovietskiy District Court of Rostov-on-Don," Oleg Agafonov, Ryazantsev's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
At the same time, the Regional Court found a violation by the judge (of the District Court), who recognized Ryazantsev's earlier administrative offenses as aggravating circumstances, the lawyer said. "However, it didn't affect his punishment," the lawyer has concluded.
