In December 2013, 107 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In December 2013, at least 107 people suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, 62 people died and 45 were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

Dagestan is in the lead in this list: 68 victims, including 37 casualties and 31 wounded persons. During armed clashes and attacks committed by members of the armed underground, 10 law enforcers were killed and 18 wounded persons. In the course of special operations, 17 suspected members of the armed underground were killed and two more wounded persons. Attacks of unidentified persons resulted in death of 10 civilians, and 11 more were wounded.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, in December 2013, 29 people suffered, including 19 casualties and 10 wounded persons. The attack resulted in the unidentified and in the course of special operations to neutralize members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) killed two and wounded nine uniformed personnel. In the course of special operations and as a result of armed clashes, 15 persons suspected of involvement in IAFs were killed. Attacks of unidentified persons killed and wounded one person.

In the Stavropol Territory, six people suffered: four were killed and two were wounded. As a result of blowing up a car in Pyatigorsk, three civilians were lost. In the course of a special operation aimed to detain a suspect of involvement in IAFs, one alleged member of the armed underground was killed; and two law enforcers were wounded.

In Chechnya, in December 2013, three persons suffered: as a result of triggered explosive devices during operative-search actions, two power agents perished and one more was wounded.

In Ingushetia, one law enforcer was wounded by gunfire opened by unidentified attackers.

In December 2013, Karachay-Cherkessia and North Ossetia had no victims of the armed conflict.
