Two oppositionists arrested in Rostov-on-Don

In Rostov-on-Don, Pavel Nagibin, an activist of the Other Russia, and Arkady Zykov, a member of the "Russian Resistance", were arrested. Their colleagues associate their arrest with the upcoming Olympic torch relay in the city.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Vladislav Ryazantsev, a coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front" in the Rostov Region, that on January 16, Arkady Zykov, an activist of the "Russian Resistance", was arrested for 7 days on charges of disobeying a lawful order of a policeman.

On January 18, the Pervomaisky District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced Pavel Nagibin for a 5-day arrest on charges of disorderly conduct. This was reported by Boris Baty, a member of the United Civil Front.

Boris Baty associates the arrest with the Olympic torch relay.

"On January 22, they will carry a big Chinese lighter with fanfare through Rostov (the Olympic flame arrives in Rostov-on-Don on January 22, note of the "Caucasian Knot"). And they afraid that Pavel can meet it by a protest poster," Boris Baty believes.
