Nagorno-Karabakh: villagers of Nor-Aikadjur complain of 9-month water outage

Starting from April 2013, the village of Nor-Aikadjur of the Martakert District of Nagorno-Karabakh is cut off from supply of drinking water. According to the villagers, they have to bring drinking water from the neighbouring villages. The village administration and the district authorities promise to solve the problem in the nearest future.

The village faces very difficult situation with drinking water. Many people cannot all the time go for drinking water, and they drink water from the irrigation canal or from the river flowing near the village. This was reported by Alisa Airapetyan, the head of the medical centre located in the village of Nor-Aikadjur.

Robert Danielyan, the head of the village of Nor-Aikadjur, has announced that the administration of the Martakert District had developed a new project to supply drinking water to the village and that last September the construction of a new well in the village of Nor-Karmiravan had been completed. The technical equipment for the well has been already installed, and at present, the problem is to bring the drinking water from the well to the village.

Vladik Khachatryan, the head of the Martakert district administration, has noted that "for many years, drinking water was supplied to the village of Nor-Aikadjur from the Tairiz River that was never cleared, so the day came when water channels got clogged."

The head of the Martakert district administration has also noted that the problem of drinking water in the village of Nor-Aikadjur will be solved in the nearest future, possibly, in January.
