Law enforcers find IED in summer cottage of Astrakhan woman

On January 7, in the Astrakhan Region, a female resident of Astrakhan was detained. In her summer cottage, law enforcers found and seized a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) with striking elements.

The bomb was found in the course of operational and search activities. This was reported by a source from the law enforcement bodies.

The law enforcers state that, according to the woman, the IED belonged to her husband of Slav nationality, who was killed by the federal forces in Dagestan as a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF). The name of the killed man is not reported.

According to law enforcers, the arrested Astrakhan woman professes radical Islam, the "Interfax" reports.

The detected bomb was stuffed with plastid explosive and metal striking elements, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.
