Over 20,000 Sochi residents spent several hours without heating and electricity

In the evening of December 27, in Sochi, residents of "Zavokzalny", "Gagarin" and "New Sochi" neighbourhoods spent several hours without electricity and heating supply because of troubles on the cable lines.

Oksana Mitsenko, an officer from the press service of the city electrical supply services, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that an emergency breaking of cables occurred.

"In the residential 'Zavokzalny' neighbourhood a cable was damaged during the construction of an alternate road. In other cases, the accidents were caused by overvoltage, since the electrical networks cannot withstand loads," Oksana Mitsenko has said.

"The supply of electricity has not been restored till 12:00 p.m. This is a complete disgrace! Even on the eve of the New Year, they conduct experiments upon us and constantly de-energize the city," says Oleg Maslov, a local resident.

It should be noted that during the preparation for the Olympic Games, Sochi residents are often left without electricity supply because of accidents. Being dissatisfied with the frequent lack of electricity, the city residents organized a meeting and invited the Mayor. They demand to change the situation; however, accidents and power outages continue to occur.
