Defence of suspects of killing KChR's Vice-Premier accuse investigators of breaking presumption of innocence

The investigator Vadim Mukov has broken the presumption of innocence by voicing accusations of the suspects of killing Ansar Tebuev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) on air of the TV show "Man and Law" of Channel One, the defendants' advocates assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 18, 2004, Ansar Tebuev, Deputy Prime Minister of the KChR, who supervised the republic's power bodies, was shot dead on his way to work. The investigation into the murder was resumed after on May 30, 2013, in Cherkessk, one of the suspects of the murder was detained. According to investigators, he has confessed and named the organizers and executors of the crime.

On December 13, the TV show "Man and Law" broadcast by Russia's Channel One presented a story, in which Vadim Mukov, an investigator for particularly important cases of the Chief Investigating Department of Russia for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), revealed the data of the preliminary investigation and disclosed the personal data of the suspects; the show presented the investigating actions with the suspects, which, according to the advocates, was a flagrant violation of the law and defendants' rights.

"Apart from all the apparent violations associated with the above show, the investigator confidently asserted that our clients were guilty of the crime. Thereby, he violated the constitutional principle of the presumption of innocence, the right to defence and the right to contentiousness of the parties," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Vyacheslav Merzakulov, an advocate from the 11th branch of the Advocates' Bar of the KChR.
