Sochi City Administration: city residents to pay fines of 300-50,000 roubles for poorly cared yards

Within the preparation campaign for the 2014 Olympic Games, Sochi authorities have introduced fines to be imposed on city residents for poorly cared yards. This was announced by Sergey Yurin, Deputy City Mayor. The maximum fine will amount to 50,000 roubles.

Throughout the preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, yards were improved for the funds from the city treasury; however, at present, the above responsibility has been shifted to the residents of the resort city.

"A person should clean the territory adjacent to his/her land plot, house, individual cottage, multi-apartment house, or a private commercial entity," the website of the City Administration quotes Sergey Yurin as saying.

In the coming days, the City Administration will publish a list of requirements defining the due appearance of the territory adjacent to houses and facades of building.

According to the authorities, the above measures will help to maintain the current appearance of hundreds of residential buildings and yards, which had been renovated and repaired for the Winter Olympic Games for the money from the regional and federal budgets, the "Yuga.ru" reports.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sochi residents have repeatedly expressed their outrage with poor repair of roads, sidewalks, and adjacent territories.
